Pornography: The Other Woman
Who knew she had this kind of power? I didn’t! I welcomed her into my home on more than one occasion. She added spice to our sex life. Harmless, I thought. I had no idea she was a threat, didn’t have the slightest inkling he would or even could become obsessed with her. She’s untouchable, only a figment of the imagination.
A fantasy at best can sometimes be the best, however. There is no competition for the manufacturings of the mind.
Nor did I have reason to believe I’d have to compete—with her—for my husband’s affection. But I did. She’s the last woman any of you might suspect is capable of stealing somebody’s -anybody’s - man. That’s not to say she’s ugly or unattractive. She’s America ’s ideal image of beauty. Hell, he snuck out of bed with me one night to be with her, after turning me down. “Not tonight, honey, I’m tired.” The look of disgust was unmistakable. I tried to seduce him but often failed—only to have her come along and succeed. “She’s just entertainment," he says. "Harmless entertainment!”
Provocative, she is. She possesses a myriad of faces. Her career possibilities range from secretary to cleaning woman. She’s no selfish lover. She aims to please, not in it for herself at all, purely for his indulgence, unless, of course, you calculate the trillions of dollars her industry rakes in annually. It’s simple! He presses play on the VCR or DVD ; she appears as his servant.
The other woman isn’t who you think she is.
I want to introduce you to the complete seduction of pornography. Seduction, meet your audience. Oh, let me formally introduce you. The other woman—his mistress—is pornography. Pornography, meet your victims. Those addicted, face your destruction. Pornography kidnapped my husband and held my happiness for ransom. His fantasy. My reality!
Pornography addiction plagues millions of Americans today. Today’s ever-increasing distribution of pornographic images via television, cable, and Internet access should compel all of America , with a sense of urgency, to take a look at this compulsion. Lives, marriages and families are being torn apart by this evil. Experts say most peoples’ first encounter with pornography is during their early teen years. Adult Video News reported a 76.5 percent increase in the distribution of hardcore adult videos between 1990 and 2000. According to NetValue, children spent 64.9 percent more time on pornography sites than they did on game sites in September 2000. With the ease of access to such material, these images are no longer limited to adolescents and adults; they are now available to our children. Online pornography is accessible to children at school, libraries, and at home.
There will come a day when America can no longer ignore the lurking danger of pornography. That day has come. Consider yourself warned!
